"Do not cast all hope away. Tomorrow is unknown. Hope is oft found at the rising of the sun." - Legolas.
I do love the stories of the Lord of the Rings, and I especially love the elves. It has been said that the elves in J.R.R. Tolkien's books represented the sad, sorrowful, and by-gone age that we in modern times can only know of in legend, in song, and in tale. They had been around a long time and had seen a lot of the mess men made of things.
I almost feel like we're losing our past. So many things have changed and are changing. Maybe we can hold onto those things ourselves, in our personal lives, I mean the things that really matter anyway like courage, grace, connection, overcoming, gathering, and checking our own "pulse," if you will, to see if we still have love and compassion within us rather than letting it make us callous and hard and mean and scared. Keep your own candle burning bright--live light, spread the light, be the light. In a night full of darkness and pain, be a candle until the rising of the sun.
